20090126 Mon Arose 8 meditated, breakfast, cleaned up a
bit before Nick arrived to check the electrics, didn't really find anything
other than the 50amp flat line fuses had blown again, anyway drove us to
Fuengirola to get some then did a bit more checking but found nothing other than
main electronics box must be blown. Anyway the main thing is I am managing fine
on the solar charging alone, even watched a movie on the DVD player no probs.
After Nick went I stripped the back wheel off the motorbike after determining
that the tyre valve was ok, to find the inner tube had blown apart, I think it
may have been perished. Anyway got it all sorted ready for tomorrow, so chatted
to Bob and Jean over a few g and t's then made my tea watched a movie and
crashed after a few red wines about 10pm.
20090127 Tue Arose 7 meditated, read a little had
breakfast ready to get the 9:45 bus to Fuengirola. I took the wheel from the
moped to get a new inner tube fitted. It took about 30 minutes to find a shop
however did loads of walking carrying the wheel called at Aunty Sheila's and got
back for about 12:45 to find the Police had asked us to move on. I fixed the
bike loaded it up and set off towards Benalmadina Sunset Beech, took a while
but managed it met Paul and Molly their and decided to stay the night at the park
up the hill, made a quick meal, watched a movie and retired about 11pm.
20090128 Wed Arose 7 meditated, waited while light then
went for a look round the boot sale, I was parked next to them so heard them
setting up from 5am. Had a word with Paul and Molly who had already sold 4 bikes
and some other bits. had breakfast and a few cuppa's then walked to the
supermarket for some supplies. Made a big pan of veg soup, had some for lunch
but loads left will do for a few days. It was a glorious day about 30 in the
sun had another walk round the boot sales then sat in the sun read a little and
had a few cool drinks. Met Gareth &Enid from Wales and Richard and Paul who
both had similar style motor homes and both had a motorbike in the back. Had a
sandwich for tea then joined Richard and Paul to watch Slum dogs the movie with
a few wines and a good crack, retired to bed about 10pm.
20090129 Thu Arose 8 meditated again then breakfast, got
the bike out and had a run over to Aunty Sheila's, rang insurance co up to send
a green card so I can go to Morocco, thinking of going in convoy with Richard
and Paul. Paperwork on its way, did a bit of shopping then back to Aunty
Sheila's for lunch also with Annette it was about 26° on the terrace. Later back
to the van and bought a 4 wheel scooter for Aunty Sheila from Gareth & Violet
fellow motor homers, checked it out then loaded it in the back of the
motor home
for delivery tomorrow morning. Had some of my home made soup for tea then
watched the Finland Motorcycle Rally DVD I attended in June, it was pretty
good. Made some notes and retired about 10pm.
20090130 Fri Arose 7 meditated, had a coffee then
organized the van and set off to Fuengirola with the mobility scooter, parked in
the small car park on the beech front, had the scooter unloaded in less than 5
minutes, drove it round to Aunty Sheila's, got it into the reception area but
fount it was too big for the lift. Anyway Aunty Sheila had a go driving it to
the van, she was impressed with it and soon had the hang of it. Aunty Sheila
drove down to the underground car park and it was decided to park it behind
Annette's car, it fit their nicely. Had a cupper and a nibble before heading
back to Benalmadina to collect my motorbike and ramp, got them loaded up then
set off down to Estepona, called at the supermarket for more supplies and landed
at about 4:30. Made a butty, had a walk round then Paul and Richard arrived.
Chatted about the trip and what was required had a couple of glasses of wine tea
and watched "The Bank Job" Jason Stratham, enjoyed it, a few nights and kip at
10:30.
20090131 Sat Arose 8 after meditating, shaved and
showered, it was raining today but still warm forecast rain for the next 4 days
so should be able to wash the van. Checked the grey water tank and found it was
not registering empty because one of the sensors was dirty, so cleaned that and
working ok again. I am parked up next to the Marina so had a nice walk round did
a bit of shopping had lunch, then a coffee in the Marina with Richard. We
decided to go out in my van to find a wifi hot spot because the internet shop
was closed all day and I needed to get my tax return submitted as it was the
last day. Found one within 100 meters so that was handy and got my return
submitted ok. Later Paul, Richard and I went to the Indian in the Marina for a
curry and a few beers which went down a treat. We returned to the vans then I
watched a movie and retired about 11pm.
20090201 Sun Woke about 8 raining so meditated, wrote up
a few notes and had a coffee about 9, February already, learnt quite a lot about
the van this month, I believe I can manage using electric from the solar panels
and engine without any problems as long as I am selective on What I use. I
shouldn't need the gas central heating either so I reckon I can also last 2
months on two full bottles of gas based on current use over the last few weeks.
Set off to Algeciras about 2pm nice run down the coast steady away parked up in
Lidl car park, there was already 4 motor homes their at 4pm by 6pm there was 20,
quite a popular stopping point. Cleaned the van inside while it was dry, gave it
a good bottoming before I set sail for Morocco on Tuesday all being well. Had
dinner and settled down with a book for the night. Retired about 10pm.
