Week14

20090302 Mon - Sidi Ifni Camping - m&a 6:30 coffee and breakfast and set off at 7:30 the roads were quiet and the sun was still rising over the mountain passes as I drove to Guelmim the scenery turned to rugged desert but there was lots of growth this year the wettest for years. Got stopped by the Police in Tan Tan just a routine check this one spoke quite good English. Got to the Campsite in El Ouatia and had lunch, facing the sea, it was a fairly quiet town, had a walk round and purchased some bread for dinner, then got the Moto out and went for a run up and down the coast and also visited the fishing port which looked very industrious. Thinking about staying a couple of nights then heading up the coast to Banana beach near Agadir. Had an early night and retired about 8pm.

20090303 Tue - El Ouatia Camping Atlantic - Had a rocky night from the sea breeze m&a 8:30 nice waking up seeing the sea. Had a lazy day walked round the town and bought some fresh Moroccan bread for the day still warm, lovely, made a sandwich for lunch then went for a long walk down the beach, a little windy out today so focused on finishing the web site, it’s ok for the moment just have to get a wifi connection to upload it now, hopefully when I get to Agadir in a few days. Had dinner and going to have another early night could be a long drive tomorrow, retired 8pm.

20090304 Wed - El Ouatia Camping Early start managed to rock n roll for 7 roads were quiet and it was a lovely run back up to Guelmim, found the turn off to the thermal baths at Abaynou the road was single track with lots of pot holes about 10km long to the hotel and camping stop. Got a nice spot settled in and got the bike out to have a mosey rode 2km down a much track to the other campsite which was quite secluded, chatted to a few Germans who told me about an old village about another 3km down the track, had a ride down to check it out crossed several fords getting their but was a nice little run even though got caught in a light shower. Later bumped into Richard & Paul and Phil & Max, also met Andy & Trudy who were camped on the same site when I returned from the bike ride. Sampled the thermal pool in the hotel then chilled out with a few beers with Andy & Trudy before bed.

20090305 Thu - Abaynou Hotel Campsite m&a 6:30 quick coffee and hit the road at 7 met 10 trucks coming the other way on the 10km single track road back towards Guelmim once through their the roads were pretty quiet after Bouizakarne the road wound up into the mountains it was quite hairy next to the rocks jutting out into the road but a lovely run over to Tiznit, decided to keep going to Agadir, it was really busy their, in comparison to the run generally, stopped at Marjane for supplies a carton of beers and more tonic water for the G&Ts. Onto Atlantic Campsite for about 1pm. Got settled then set about preparing some food made some potato salad and a veg curry, had some curry for dinner before retiring 9pm.

20090306 Fri - Agadir Atlantic Camping m&a 7:30 used the site facilities and decided to catch up on all the washing, got the washing in the machine for 10am and was making the bed at noon with dry fresh sheets, even the jeans were bone dry by 2pm. Had a lazy day apart from the washing, having a wander and a chat to various people, met Manfred & Sylvia a German couple who have spent the last 4 years in Africa, also met Fred & Sue and Jerry & Julia who helped me consume more of the veg curry I made last night. Shared a few drinks then retired for an early night.

20090307 Sat - Agadir Atlantic Camping - m&a 7:30 got organized and a good breakfast then off on the Moto at 9:30 headed for the Cascades at Imouzzer, well up in the mountains through a place called paradise valley, what a fabulous scenic ride ideal for a bike took lots of pics a really lovely day off on my own, about 85 miles round trip. Called at banana beach on the way back then spent the rest of the day watching the sun go down over a few cool drinks with Manfred and Silvia travelling in a home made Mercedes they made a great job of it, retired about 9pm.

20090308 Sun - Agadir Atlantic Camping - m&a 7:30 spitting rain a bit this morning but really peaceful and its 9 already. Had a bacon buttie with Fred for breakfast then set about fixing his computer with Tom, after we fixed it Sue said they would treat us to dinner, we had a lovely meal at the French restaurant with a few bottles of red, just got back to the van and the heavens opened with thunder and lightning along with strong winds, only lasted a few hours then slowed down, a really good day today retired about 10.
